Foxboro, MA – All over New England Maple Leafs were dropping like flies. In Boston, the Bruins came back from a seemingly insurmountable three goal deficit to beat the bewildered Maple Leafs in over-time. In Foxboro, the Penguins took down the Leafs in dramatic fashion with a final score of 4-2, with both the first and last goals coming off end-to-end rushes. In the 1st period it was the once dominant Youngblood who skated through the Leafs like a state-of-the-art Leaf Blower.
“Mmmmm….a leaf blower,” remarked Wilmot. “Count me in!”
In the 3rd period Moura snagged the puck off the boards and bee-lined it to the open net for an unassisted goal that would leave the Leafs in piles on the ice. Goals were also scored by Wallace and Roode 3 which put the game out of the Leafs control and gave the Penguins their second win of the Summer Season.
“Why can’t Canada win at hockey anymore?” questioned a beleaguered Bilbo after the game. “What is going on, heh? Each night I pray to my angel Celine Dion, and each night she not take care of her Bilbo. If Ottawa loses I, Bilbo will sell my season tickets to the Celine Dion show in Las Vegas….to be more precise, I will sell at least 2 of my 12 tickets, as I don’t want to be irrational!”
No one had the heart to tell Bilbo that the Maple Leafs they skated against weren’t from Canada, as that would have caused him too much stress and could affect his doughnut making skills. It was noted earlier in the night however, that Bilbo had picked up some skills of the Canadiens by falling to the ice and ‘flopping’ like Subban.
“I am sad to see the Maple Leafs lose,” commented Coach Douchey from his home office in Toronto. “But as I coach the Penguins I guess it is pretty good in the end. It’s a new team, with many new players. Quite frankly I don’t know the old players that well either, so it is tough but I’m hoping by keeping my distance it will help the team out in the long run.”
The Penguins next take on Analog in Walpole on May 20th, and all eyes will be on the Penguins to see if they can continue their winning ways.
