With the news of Curchin’s imminent departure from the team, the Penguins lost the game to the Maple Leafs in dramatic fashion last night to a sold out crowd at the Foxboro Sports Complex. The Penguins managed to keep the game close, only going down by five goals by the end of the 2nd period.
“We had them right where we wanted them,” commented Wilmot. “At the rate that I am scoring, it was only a matter of time before I got five of my own to tie the game."
Starting off the 3rd period, Wilmot did just that, by raking in a goal with just 2:04 gone in the period.
“It was looking good, real good,” commented Curchin, as he boxed up his belongings in preparation for his trip to Houston. “I was a +1 for the first seven-seconds of the game. That may be a new record for me. I will cherish that for as long as I live!”
And that’s when the excitement happened. From out of nowhere...
