Penguins Need a Win (and a Miracle)

Walpole, MA – With the Penguins on a bye-week, the team’s playoff chances were all but doused Sunday evening, when The Herd beat the Scorpions with a score of 3-2. Both the Penguins and The Herd have been in a shoot-out for the final play-off spot, and the Penguins 1-point lead was quickly erased with the Herd’s win, and now the Penguins lag 1-point behind The Herd, and are currently out of playoff contention.

"This is bull [expletive]!" barked an angry Sean Kenney. "How can they do this to us? We are all good people! It’s not fair! I hate The Herd…I hate EVERYONE! Die you mother-[expletive], die!”

Based on the win, the scenarios remain as follows for the mighty Penguins:

- If The Herd wins their last game, the Penguins are OUT
- If The Herd loses their last game, and the Penguins win theirs, the Penguins are IN the Playoffs
- If The Herd loses their last game, and the Penguins tie theirs, the two teams would end-up tied for the season and would have a rubber-match to get into the playoffs
- If the Herd ties their last game, the Penguins would have to win their last game to tie for the rubber-match
- If the Herd loses, and the Penguins lose – the Herd wins
- If the Herd forfeits their last game, and the Penguins skate at the wrong rink by accident, and the referees are from Dedham, DUI’s would be issued for all referees regardless of the final score of the game

"I did not know that it would be this complicated," admitted Roode I. "I did not do well in math or with school in general. Can someone just tell me if I’m playing in a game or not?"

With their backs against the boards, the Penguins are in a must-win situation, and even that may not be enough to catapult them into the play-offs.

“The Herd can lick the back of my ball-bag,” commented coach Douchey, from his home in Toronto. “I love the Pelicans. The whole team is a bunch of stand-up hockey players. Win or lose, I support those guys no matter what happens. I only hope they appreciated my hands-off coaching style this year!”

All eyes will turn to to Monday night’s match-up between the Penguins and the Maple Leafs. This is sure to be the greatest game of their lives!
