Player's Corner

Fourteen games into the season, and the Penguins are deep into a 3-game losing streak. With only 9 games to go the team got a jolt off the bench, when Chris Boomhower (Boomer) made his first appearance of the winter season.

Boomer showed his prowess on the ice during the dabacle against Analog, and managed once again to prove that if you have heart, and are loaded with alcohol, you can go far in the game of hockey. The Provo Hockey Reporter (PHR) caught up with Boomer, at the Irio Arena before his weekend practice.

PHR - Welcome back, how does it feel to be on the ice again?

Boomer - It feels great. I can't feel anything from my waist down after the last game, but I don't think that will hinder my performance.

PHR - It must be tough to jump into a game mid-way through the season. What did you do to prepare for the rigors of playing in the NESHL?

Boomer - What do you mean?

PHR - Did you have a special workout or diet or anything you did in order to get ready for playing at such a high level of hockey?

Boomer - Oh, I've got you...sure, sure. I cut out lite-beer, as that has low carbs, and I believe in carbo-loading. I also did a situp the week before the game, which took a lot out of me. It may have hindered my performance to be honest.

PHR - Was it good to see your teamates?

Boomer - Not really. There are a few new guys and I feel really uncomfortable in the locker-room when they start getting naked...it's cool and all, but it reminds me of when I was in prison.

PHR - You were in prison?

Boomer - Ummm...did I say prison? No I meant Boy Scouts....weird how you thought I said prison.

PHR - Before we end the interview, I'd like to ask you one more question. You have played in only one game in the winter season correct?

Boomer - As far as I can remember, yes.

PHR - In this one game you have a BB = 1. Considering that you have only played in one game, how is it that your BB exceeds Hickey, Youngblood, Bilbo and Curchin combined? How is this possible?

Boomer - It is not hard really...you just 'buy beer' and 'bring it to the game'. I know that 'sharing' the beer is important too...so that is all part of it. I'm just happy that I could contribute in some way to the team....I think contributing is very important as a teamate.
