Provo Hockey Reporter (PHR) caught up with spokesman and attorney for the Eagle Book Hockey team, Dick Weede, after a solid 3-1 victory over the slipping Penguins. All Eagle Book players and personnel have been sworn to a code of silence, and when Dick speaks, he speaks for the entire team.
PHR - Great win last night!
Dick - The Eagle Book organization is proud of the performance of this team. They played one hell of a game last night.
PHR - In the last two match-ups, the Penguins beat you by a resounding 14-3. What did you do differently for last night's game?
Dick - We knew we were struggling against the Penguins. The Route 1A rivalry is a fierce one, so Eagle Book took it upon themselves to make some roster moves.
PHR - There were a lot of new faces out there last night, by our account there were at least 4 players that had not skated in the previous fifteen games. Who were these guys?
Dick - We have a very deep roster. We held those guys out for the first fifteen games to rest them for the second-half of the season. They are a great bunch of guys.
PHR - Who were they?
Dick - What do you mean?
PHR - Names...what were their names?
Dick - You want their names? Well it is an Eagle Book policy to keep the roster private until after the game.
PHR - Ummm...it is after the game. The game was last night.
Dick - Right, right...I don't have last night's roster in front of me right now, so I don't have the names in front of me.
PHR - Isn't the roster supposed to be set at the beginning of the season?
Dick - It was set at the beginning of the season, we just added to it last night.
PHR - You can't 'add' to the roster this late in the season, that is a league policy. Are we to believe you brought in ringers for last night's match-up?
Dick - Did I say that? I don't think so. I'm just saying that a bunch of guys that have never skated with us in the past, played for us last night. They happened to be really good...and won the game for us. But let's not get into semantics here. The roster was set at the beginning of the season, and we just augmented it last night.
PHR - So technically you brought in ringers?
Dick - Again with the semantics. We augmented our roster with new players. We did not bring in ringers.
PHR - Okay...it seems like you brought in new guys to play last night, and that is against the rules.
Dick - Who says?
PHR - It is an NESHL policy that the roster must remain set with the same players from the start of the season.
Dick - Exactly.
PHR - But you didn't do that. You "augmented" the roster.
Dick - Have you tried the Eagle Book Wing-Dings? Now there is a great appetizer. I dip them right into my chili bread-bowl, and let me tell you there is a real treat.
PHR - No I haven't tried that. But can we get back to the 'new' players on the Eagle Book team?
Dick - I think 'new' is a strong word. I would just say they were 'different' players, not new.
PHR - What is the difference?
Dick - Exactly what I'm saying.
PHR - Can you let us look at last night's roster? We would like to see the names of the different players on the team.
Dick - As I said, I cannot share the roster with you until after the game.
PHR - It is after the game....
Dick - Do you know what is tasty? The Patriot IPA! Now there is a great Eagle Book beer.
PHR - How about the roster.
Dick - Sounds like sour-grapes in Penguins Nation if you ask me. Just because we show up with a new...I mean different team, doesn't mean we did anything wrong.
PHR - Actually it does...
Dick - Okay...I think that is a wrap! Thanks for your time today, I'm going to have to go right now...
